Our Vision: Give to Learn, Learn to Give
More than 115 million children of primary-school age are not in school, and even more do not have the opportunity to pursue secondary school or higher education.
Poverty is one of the principal causes. Families cannot afford school fees or supplies, or may simply need children to contribute to the family income. We believe that education is the most important and sustainable resource for individual empowerment, advancement, and poverty alleviation.
Givology's Mission
Givology is an online giving marketplace for education that leverages small dollar donations to support grassroots projects and student scholarships in the developing world. We democratize philanthropy by enabling anyone to help impact the lives of students in need of educational assistance.
Givology is a 100% volunteer organization. We have raised over $130,000 to support over 2,635 students in over 20 countries. We have 4,000+ supporters on Facebook, Linked-in, and Twitter, 1,700+ registered donors, 11 chapters at universities, high schools, and various cities, 30 core team members and 90 volunteers globally, and 30 grassroots partners.
What is the Goal?
Extend access to quality education to every child in the world. To make that happen, we're starting with a smaller goal of obtaining 500 pledges for the fingerprints on the map and raising $10,000.
Why Make Your Mark?
The goal of our "Make Your Mark on the World" campaign is to inspire action. We commissioned a painting of the world from Gigapixel Creative's Joseph Kilraine. On June 17th, we will welcome the public in Union Square to place their own fingerprints on the map to indicate areas of the world they want to help.
Based on the distribution of the handprints that we collect, we will allocate 100% of the funding we raise to our students, schools, and projects throughout the world.
How Does Pledging Work?
We're taking pledges in the form of:
(1) Donations per fingerprint that we collect on June 17th.
(2) Any donations to support the campaign. Your contribution goes a long way!
